[INTRODUCING] Cambridge Satchel Company's Limited Edition Pastel Collection

Since receiving my first Cambridge Satchel for my birthday a couple of months ago, I am now beginning to turn my attention to my next one! Yes, I am that fickle! Not really, actually. It’s just that I am literally wearing this satchel every day and I fancy having another to switch it up a little. [FBFF] Summer Trends for 2012

Summer finally came to the UK this week!!! I’m sorry if you’re already bored with me talking harping on about it all of the time but, honestly, in the UK you can never quite be sure when summer will arrive, or when it will just as quickly and surprisingly disappear again! However, it seems an ideal time to be discussing this week’s Friend Friday topic: summer trends. Katy has asked us this week, what trends are you loving for the upcoming season?

I have already written about some of my favourite trends for Spring/Summer 2012 so in this post I intend to take my two favourite trends for this season: pastels and prints.

The pastel trend was seen on many of the catwalks for SS12, including at Prada, Jaeger London and PPQ. The pretty candy colours allow the wearer to stick to shapes and styles with which they are already familiar and play around with the shade instead. This is a great trend for work-wear – simply switch your usual white shirt for a pastel blouse and you’re summer office ready.

Prints are synonymous with the summer. Every year floral prints are all over the high street for our holiday wardrobe. This season though, it is all about clashing prints – as seen at Mary Katrantzou and at Clements Ribeiro. This is one trend that we will surely all be rocking on our holidays this summer?

[SS12] Trends at Wallis

There are so many wonderful trends to try out for SS12 so I have chosen four of my favourite trends for Spring Summer 2012 and my top picks from the British high street stroe Wallis to show you how to quickly and easily add a little catwalk fashion stright into your wardrobe:

Pastels are evidently my absolute favourite trend for SS12 and pastel denim is my favourite way to incorporate it into your Spring wardrobe. The lilac jeans by Wallis have quickly made it to the top of my Spring wardrobe wish-list. Go all out pastel by teaming the pale pink skinny jeans with a tie hem tee, either in pink or mint. The mint sleeveless blouse is the perfect way to work the pastel trend into your office look – just add the pretty pastel striped bag and you’re good to go!

The tribal trend for Spring Summer 2012 is one that screams to be worn for your summer holidays: team the print maxi dress with the gold tassel necklace and a pair of black and snakeskin sandals. Alternatively grab the tribal print top and the snakeskin leggings and add a pair of wedges and the statement necklace to finish. The Ikat print top with its hints of blue would look great teamed with the blue embellished sandals.

Prints – from floral to paisley and chevrons to – were clashed and matched on catwalks across the fashion cities for Spring Summer 2012. Get in on the trend at Wallis with bold floral print dresses in yellow and coral, or palazzo pants in butterfly print or florals, or how about bold colourful floral print leggings? Have fun with prints with the orange parrot print tie top or the palm tree print tee.

The pajama trend for SS12 is probably the least likely of the trends. Choose loose fitting pieces that match and will keep you cool in the warmer weather, like these animal print blouses, either short-sleeved or sleeveless, and loose print trousers, either palazzo style or tapered. Team with casual loafers.

Which trends will you buying into this Spring? Any you’d like to try but aren’t sure about?

[INSPIRATION] Pastel Jeans for SS12

Pastels are big news for Spring Summer 2012, they were all over the catwalks back in September and now they filling stores and, gradually, wardrobes worldwide.

Pastel jeans are one of the easiest ways to buy into the trend and one of the most wearable.

It seems that fashionistas everywhere are already buying into the trend with SJP, Cameron Diaz, Kate Moss and even HRH Kate Middleton getting in on the act and stepping out in pastel jeans:

So I went in search of some pastel designer jeans over at farfetch.com:

How about brightening up your wardrobe with some sunny yellow or orange skinny pastel jeans?

Or add a little aqua – or lilac – to your wardrobe with a pair of these skinny jeans?

Have you added a pair of pastel jeans to your wardrobe for Spring Summer 2012 yet? If so, which colour did you choose? Where did you find them?

[MANI OF THE WEEK] SS12 half-moon pastel polish manicure

My morning coffee in its pastel mug was accompanied by a pastel mani today:

It might not be spring outside just yet but that doesn’t mean my nails can’t have a little experiment with spring’s major trend, pastels. What do you think?

I used Models Own’s Lilac Dream, Rimmel London’s 60 Second Nail Polish in Instyle Coral, Chanel’s Le Vernis Nail Colour in Nouvelle Vague and Mimosa.

Will you be rocking the pastel polish?

[FRIEND FRIDAY] New Trends

It’s been a while since I took part in the Friend Friday group discussions as everything sort of started to get on top of me at the end of last year. For 2012, Katy has decided to scale back the group and we’ll be featuring questions once a month. So this is officially the first for the new year!

For the new year, we’re discussing new trends:

1. With Fashion week just around the corner, we are all beginning to focus on the upcoming trends for fall. But what about the trends hitting stores now? What are you coveting?

Pastels for Spring is my absolute favourite new trend. I’ve completely fallen for candy colours and sugary sweet shades of blush pinks and baby blues and pretty lilacs.

2. How do you incorporate new trends into your wardrobe?

I tend to look at what I already have that can be worked into the new trends. Over the past few years I have worked hard to build a good collection of basics for my wardrobe that can be mixed and matched. For this new season, I will definitely be investing in something pastel but will make sure that it will last on from this season even if the trend doesn’t. I also try to look out for things in the sales at the end of the previous season that might work for the next.

3. What trend are you seeing and not loving?

I’m not really feeling the sportswear trend which was shown on the catwalks at Paris, New York and London for SS12. I prefer to keep my sportswear for the gym, thank you! And crop tops?! No way will I be wearing them either! They look great on some people but there’s no way I’m inflicting that on anyone!

4. Do you feel the pressure to constantly update your closet with the latest trends?

As a fashion blogger there is more of a pressure to stay up-to-date more than ever but I try not to bow to the temptation to shop too much (not that you’d know it if you read the blog!!). It has made me more imaginative with how I use what I already have and made me conscious of making each and every purchase work hard for my wardrobe!

5. Where do you find inspiration that takes the trend and makes it accessible to you and your personal taste?

I love to browse street style blogs and pages in magazines for inspiration. Seeing how girls on the street are incorporating trends into their look helps to encourage me to do the same.

What trends are you loving – or not – for Spring Summer 2012?

As always with Friend Friday, remember to check out the other contributions over on ModlyChic. And if you’d like to be involved, you can find all of the information here.

[MANI OF THE WEEK] Spring pastels

Pastels are hot for Spring Summer 2012 and were everywhere on the catwalks in all four major fashion capitals last September. Of all of the trends for SS12, I think this is probably my favourite. Candy colours immediately conjure spring-time images for me, spring blossons, daffodils, baby blue skies, new lambs and so many more.

So, rather than let the cold winter weather get you down this week, why not inject a little spring into your outfits and treat yourself to a manicure at home with your favourite pastel polishes?

These are what I will be using on my nails – just as soon as I have a spare five minutes to paint them!

Polishes left to right: Models Own in Lilac Dream; No 7 in Me! Me! Me!; Chanel in Nouvelle Vague; and Chanel in Mimosa.

Come back next week to see how my mani turns out!! What shade are you wearing on your nails this week?
