A Day in the Life #3

Last Thursday (24 March) the day of the exhibition for Samsung’s The Now Project arrived. The culmination of a month of taking photographs of a perceived now. The day also happened to coincide with the day my (super stylish) sis wanted us to go to The Ideal Home Show at Earls Court. So I made a day of it. Seeing as it was the day when the photographs I had taken on my Samsung Wave II would be exhibited, I thought it only fitting that I should leave the DSLR at home and document the day on my mobile. Plus, it’s always nice to have a day out without a clunky camera in tow – a bit unusual, too, for a blogger!

So here is my day in photos:

8.20am – the sun is already out when I arrive at the railway station:

Super Stylish Sister: #3 AND London Day Out

Here’s the third week’s outfit photo of Super Stylish Sis:

This photo was taken last weekend when I was home with her and the weather was just beginning to feel a little Spring-like.

Super Stylish Sis is wearing: Marks and Spencer coat and jumper, Gap dress from Mary Portas’ Living and Giving Shop, Liberty for Comic Relief scarf and EMU boots.

Super Stylish Sis and I spent a super stylish day together on Thursday in London:

Here’s a little teaser – as I promise to write a bigger post on our day. We spent the day at The Ideal Home Show which no doubt Super Stylish Sis will be chatting all about over at her blog Home Sweet Homemade Home.

And then in the evening, I headed off to The Design Museum on the South Bank of the Thames, to the exhibition of the winning shots in Samsung’s Now Project:

What are you up to this weekend? While the boyf goes off for band practice, I have been “abandoned” on Starbucks with a Skinny Vanilla Latte and muffin. Can’t complain.

A Day In The Life #2: LFW

London Fashion Week for me seemed to be over before it had really begun but my heart still skips a beat when I think that I was there! After the success of the last “A Day In The Life” post I did, I thought this might prove to be a more interesting day to document:

I took the train from Cardiff to London at lunchtime:

Had a little picnic on the way:
Once in London, I navigated my way across the city centre on the tube, embarking at Embankment before walking to Somerset House:
At Somerset House, I was given my Press Pass (I still wasn’t sure I’d get it – even though I’d had an email to tell me I would):
I then headed to the BFC Show Space and met the lovely ladies, Amanda – aka The Online Stylist and seen in photo below – and Helen – of The It Guide:
They were about to head into the Aminaka Wilmont show. I was delighted to discover that not having a ticket didn’t mean you couldn’t attend a show – you just have to stand in a different line and then stand once in the show space. Fine by me, thank you. I found a buddy in the non-invite queue in the shape of the lovely Katie – of Katie Styles – and together we jostled our way until we were standing right by the entrance onto the catwalk and from there we waited for the models to appear:
I had to pinch myself a couple of times as I watched each model appear:
And then it was the final “walk” and the dream was over:
After saying goodbye to Helen, Amanda and I headed to The Freemasons’ Hall – the location of Vauxhall Fashion Scout and Jasper Garvida:
Once in the backstage area, Emma (of Push PR) told us we could snap anything we wanted. So I did (many more to come in another post):
And then – just like that – the fairytale ended. Or sort of. A different sort of fun started after that! One involving old friends, glasses of wine and giant pancakes (topped with things like bacon, apple and maple syrup) at my old dutch:
All in all, a rather fabulous day. Thank you very much.
Again, thank you to Samsung and The Now Project for my Samsung Wave II – with which many of these photos were taken.

A Day in the Life #1

The lovely Paula of PinkBow often does a Life in Pictures post in which she takes a photo every hour (or thereabouts) throughout the day. So I thought I would give it a go last Friday when I had a day, using my Samsung Wave II and the various apps on the Now Project site:
8.00am – reading an old classic (that I’ve not read before!) in bed – I love a lie in!
9.00am – breakfast of coffee and fruit toast

10.00am – shower time – I swear by Aussie’s Take The Heat products (currently 2 for £6 in Boots, all my beauty bargainistas!)

10.30am – it’s a “new shoes kind of day”

11.00am – I add a little colour to my lips with my new Avon Ultra Colour Rich Moisture Seduction Lipstick in Mocha Plum

12.30pm – pack up my bag before heading to the train station

2.00pm – we’re off on the train to the in-laws for the weekend

3.00pm – I listen to a little radio on my mobile

7.00pm – a little chocolate after dinner to satisfy my cravings… just that one is never enough
8.00pm – the soaps are on and the fire’s lit – what better way to spend an evening?
9.30pm – a herbal tea to prepare me for bed and for sleep
I realise now that this wasn’t the most exciting of days to document like this. What do you think of the concept? If you like it, I will do it again, on a more exciting day!

Projects: Now and New

This morning I was busy bemoaning the fact that the mist and fog was so thick in Cardiff that I could barely see the cars on the road from the pavement as I walked to work. By lunchtime, it had all cleared and Cardiff Bay was bathed in beautiful sunshine. I often forget that I actually live by the sea. But then half of the time, I can’t see the sea!

As everything looked so beautiful with the sun shining on it, I decided to test run my new mobile phone, courtesy of Samsung, the Wave II:

Pierhead Building, Cardiff Bay

Since receiving the phone at the weekend, I’ve been having fun playing with it. The camera and its many many edit options provided hours of entertainment when the boyf and I were stranded on a train for two hours in the middle of nowhere on Sunday night! A few weeks ago I mentioned wanting a new compact camera but I think this phone will fulfill all of my compact needs!

If you would like the opportunity to win one of these brand new phones, you can submit your photographs (taken on any camera) to The Now Project and you’ll be in with a chance of having your photo featured in an exhibition at The Design Museum next month. I have already submitted mine here.

After uploading my photos, I checked out some of the other entries. These are a couple that caught my eye:

Elisabeth of Thrills and Frills: the only ones on the beach

birdcages by Jazmine Rocks of Jazzabelle’s Diary

Some REALLY pretty Shoes by Kit Lee of Style Slicker

You might also have noticed that I have played around a little with the design of the blog. I’d love to know what you think of the new layout.
