warehouse 5 favourite sale pieces

The Warehouse sale has some brilliant bargains that will help to update your wardrobe for a fraction of the price. We’ve picked five of our favourites:

A boyfriend tee (1) is a must have essential. It’ll work with jeans, leggings, or with a short tube skirt (2). This one is textured for added chic! Throw on an oversized jumper (4) and you’re good to go. For an evening out, simply swap the tee and jumper for a pretty cami (5).

For an all-in-one look, choose a sweat style dress (3) and simply add a pair of trainers.

[INSPIRATION] Winter Coats

When it’s cold outside, venturing out of the house doesn’t always seem that inviting. But if you have a lovely big winter coat to wrap up in, it may make the experience a little more palatable. Personally I prefer a jacket over a coat but when the temperature starts to fall, even I can’t deny the warming benefits of a long overcoat.

If you’re still on the hunt for your perfect winter coat, the post-Christmas sales are the ideal time to hunt one down at a bargain price. Remember my top tips to shopping the sales last week? One of my top tips was to “Choose timeless pieces” – like a winter coat that will last from season to season.

I’ve found five great winter coats with price tags that won’t leave you cold!

  1. This gorgeous pale grey boyfriend fit coat at Warehouse looks a lot more expensive than it’s £70 price tag;
  2. A duffel coat like this one by Oasis is timeless;
  3. For a stand-out alternative to a plain black coat, this black and white monochrone check coat by Reiss will go with everything;
  4. A parka is the perfect weekend wrap-up, try this go-with-everything black version at Whistles;
  5. If you want a real timeless classic, choose a camel coat, like this one by Dorothy Perkins – a steal for just £30!

[HOW TO] Successfully Shop The Sales

how to shop the sales

how to shop the sales

Each year on Boxing Day, the shops open their doors to hoards of shoppers looking for bargains in their post-Christmas sales. To make sure that you spend your pennies wisely, I’ve put together my top ten tips for successfully shopping the sales:

  1. Set your budget. Know how much you have to spend and stick to it. If possible, take the cash out and leave your card at home. (I fail on this every year but I do continue to try in the hope that one year I’ll stick to my budget!)
  2. Know the gaps in your wardrobe. This should apply throughout the year and not just at sales’ time. Regularly go through your wardrobe and identify any gaps, anything you need to make what you already have work even harder. Or anything that might need replacing.
  3. Sleep on it. If you’re not sure, or it’s a little more expensive than you’d have liked, sleep on it and make a decision a day or two later. You might realise you didn’t really need/want it and save yourself a small fortune – that you can spend on something else.
  4. Check on things you wanted full price but were too expensive. Maybe you saw a lovely wool coat in Zara and fell in love, but then saw the price tag? Now, it might be on sale at a bargain price! The sales are the time to stock up on pieces you wouldn’t normally be able to afford.
  5. Just because it’s cheap doesn’t mean it’s a bargain. If you’re never going to wear it, don’t buy it. No matter how cheap it is. In the past I’ve bought lots of things just becasue they were in the sale. And they have eventually, and inevitably, ended up in my local charity shop.
  6. Choose timeless essentials. Use the sales to pick up pieces that will last forever. You can afford to get better quality at better prices in the sales which means that they will likely last longer anyway and you’ll probably love them for longer too.
  7. Allow yourself something frivolous. See something you really really love but don’t really “need”? Go for it! Sometimes we all need a treat to keep in track. (In my opinion!)
  8. Know your trends. Before you hit the shops, check out the trends for the next season. It’s no use buying pieces that are on trend right now, as they’ll quickly age and end up relegated to the back of your wardrobe. Over the next week, I’ll be highlighting some of the top trends for Spring Summer 2014 and picking out some of the best sale pieces to work them.
  9. Wear flat shoes! If you’re hitting the high street, instead of the internet, make sure you wear comfortable shoes – and clothes. With your clothes, wear pieces that can easily be removed and replaced when trying on your finds. Also, try to stick to a fairly neutral palette so you know how things will actually look.
  10. Enjoy yourself! Make a day of it. Go with friends, head for lunch and have fun.
